Brewery and Coffeehouse Concept to Open in Harrison West this April
Saucy Brew Works announces the opening of its first location in Columbus, Ohio, located at 443 West Third Avenue, the original location of Caffe Apropos. The 190-seat space features a brewpub and coffeehouse with both indoor and outdoor seating. Saucy Brew Works in Harrison West will celebrate its grand opening in early April 2020.
The new location will be similar to the flagship Ohio City brewery and brewpub, owned and operated by Brent Zimmerman and Eric Anderson. Guests will be able to enjoy the full menu currently offered in Ohio City that features specialty New Haven-style Apizza, appetizers, sandwiches and more.
The newest offering that differs from the craft brewery’s original scope is the initial launch of Saucy Coffee, a craft coffeehouse owned and operated by Saucy Brew Works. Saucy Coffee offerings include a single-origin house roast, pour overs, espresso, and a specialty menu inspired by Saucy beers such as What’s His Nuts, a Vanilla Stout with Peanut Butter and Coffee, and Modern Crimes, a Toasted Coconut Porter. They also plan to package their house roast.
"Saucy’s Columbus location in Harrison West has been a long time in the making,” said Brent Zimmerman, CEO and Co-owner of Saucy Brew Works. “We have deep roots over multiple generations in Columbus and wanted to make our entrance perfect! We looked at dozens of opportunities in the area, and in Harrison West we fell in love within the first five minutes touring the building. It was a very unique opportunity that didn’t exist on the public market. We took control of the space within days of seeing it.” Zimmerman added, “We are excited for Saucy’s next chapter in Columbus. Columbus has embraced us with open arms, and we love them too!” #GOBUCKS
The expansion into Columbus is part of the brewery’s overall development plans with three additional restaurants opening by the end of 2021. These new locations include a taproom in Cleveland’s Pinecrest neighborhood and Detroit’s Brush Park neighborhood, and the largest location to date, planned to open in Independence, Ohio neighboring Top Golf.
“Saucy was born and raised in Ohio, something we’re extremely proud of. When we launched distribution in Columbus almost two years ago, we were met with warm, welcoming and open arms,” said Eric Anderson, Director of Brewing Operations and Co-owner. “We knew right away we wanted to put a brick and mortar in a Columbus neighborhood like we did in Cleveland. Construction is underway and we’re working feverishly to get our fresh beer pouring at our Columbus brew pub in the early spring. Cheers!”
