Rellick
From Cleveland’s east-side, Rellick is a Cinematic Rock Band painting vivid pictures of the human experience. The two founding members, Mike Rellick & Teddy Petersen began by playing countless open mics around Cleveland and by the end of 2023 started building the band, booking gigs, and recording. In just over their first year, the band has grown to 7 members, have played over 50+ shows, including a multi-city tour, and has released their debut album with more music on the way. Their sound is reminiscent of Father John Misty, Grateful Dead, The Backseat Lovers, & Goose.
The album’s title, “It’s Just One Of Those Things” is a blanket term used to throw over the unexplainable to try and give it shape, whether a sudden shift in desire towards a greater purpose or the feeling you get when you know you’re in love, it’s all just one of those things. While the album follows a linear story from beginning to end, it features a wide array of musical inspirations ranging from the Disco Funk-inspired “Sweet Tranquil Tourism” to the Progressive Indie Rock of “The Turbulent Effect of Motion”.
The Art of Brewing
We sat down with our Chief Brewing Officer, Eric Anderson, to get his insight on how he merged two art forms into one flavor packed brew.
“The first band to ever grace Saucy’s Ohio City Event Center has officially joined the Artist Collective! Mike Rellick and I have been working on this collaboration for nearly a year and it’s finally here! Rellick’s debut album “It’s Just One of Those Things” is full of charisma, energy and raw talent. The tracks take the listener on a rollercoaster as the band shows off its stylistic range. ‘Rain Covered Road’ is a personal favorite of mine.
Sitting down over a beer, we chatted through all sorts of styles. Given the diversity of songs on the album, it’s not surprising that there were a ton of different creations that could have paid homage to the music in a lot of different ways. We decided to keep the beer lively and bright. A seemingly simple blonde ale, which a touch of wheat and a hefty dose of one of the newest hops on the market called “Krush” fit the bill. We chose a yeast called Sundew and fermented at 69 F to provide light strawberry and pear notes to boost the fruitiness. Weighing in at 5.0% ABV, ‘It’s Just One Of Those Things (Beers)’ is a beautifully drinkable and hoppy blonde that’s built to keep you dancing. Get out and see Rellick live, you won’t be disappointed: these guys absolutely got it going on!
Design + Aesthetic
The label Design of “It’s Just One Of Those Things Beers” is a representation of the album cover’s icon; a cinema’s marquee. The design represents the essence of Cinematic Rock, a genre coined by Rellick to describe their story-focused music. “Cinematic Rock is music that follows a narrative throughout a record and uses whatever musical style it needs to get the emotion across.” – Mike Rellick.
The colors of the label are bright and vibrant, emitting the nostalgic impression of Cinema marquees from days gone by.
