GRVE

GRVE was established in 2020 as a project between two friends, with a focus on challenging themselves to explore new creative avenues. Over the years, they have evolved into a unique four-piece rock band dedicated to keeping audiences moving and guessing their next move. Initially conceptualized as a studio-based project with a mysterious online presence, GRVE has taken an exciting turn, emerging as one of Cleveland’s most visually captivating live acts. With six releases in four years, they continually surpass their own achievements from every angle. Their latest six-song EP, “Dulce Eliberare,” offers 24 minutes of heavy, melodic, and danceable original music, available on all streaming platforms.

THE ART OF BREWING

We sat down with our Chief Brewing Officer, Eric Anderson, to get his insight on how he merged two art forms into one flavor packed brew.

“Michael and I have been friends since “back in the day”. He was slinging beers at Edison’s in Tremont and I was running the beer program at Tremont Taphouse. Funny all the twists and turns of life that brought us together at Saucy, and now brewing a collaboration beer together. GRVE “Way Up There” is a proud fifth installment of our budding Artist Collective Series. Michael had a clear vision for the art he wanted, a big green alien surfing on a banana, and Marissa of the graphics team nailed it! I had been eyeing up banana purée for quite a while and finally got to pull the trigger, beer-ifying a Fijian-style cocktail called Magbunga. The brew crew blended loads and loads of juicy pineapple and banana purées with just a touch of toasted coconut over top an oaty, wheaty base sour beer that weighs in at a dangerously drinkable 8.0% abv. The result is a bright, fresh, and vibrant tropical beer that is slightly mouth puckering and a tasty tribute to the crispy, rock-solid beats of our friends in GRVE. Cue the fog machine, roll the can to stir up the fruit, and LFG!”

DESIGN + AESTHETICS

The design discussion with GRVE was brief yet productive. With a clear vision in mind, the band sought our designer’s  skills to translate their ideas into reality. They expressed their desire for an alien with a Saucy head surfing a banana. Two members of the band, lead vocalist Greg and bassist Michael, are also part of the Saucy team. Integrating the Saucy brand prominently on the label was essential. Upon hearing their request, our designer confidently accepted the challenge.

The backdrop of deep purple space draws you in, like the comforting warmth of alcohol on a cold, Cleveland winter day. Vibrant hues of green and yellow mimic the delightful fusion of banana and coconut flavors within, instantly catching the eye. The overall design aims to encapsulate the essence of summer, oh so close, while transporting the viewer to otherworldly realms.
